About Amphia Hospital
With a history that can be traced back to 200 years ago, Amphia Hospital, located in Breda, is one of the largest hospitals in the Netherlands.
In the last two decades, Amphia Hospital has become a centre for medical training and research, offering both basic and specialised care. Its facilities are home to over 300 specialists and a staff of 4,400 professionals, all committed to providing the best care to the more than 400,000 people in the region.
The challenge: Managing legacy data during an ERP migration
After running their SAP system for 13 years, Amphia Hospital decided to migrate to a different ERP solution, in an attempt to reduce their operational costs.
This process posed a significant challenge for Amphia. They didn’t want to migrate the extensive volumes of legacy data they had accumulated over the years to the new system. However, deleting the data was not an option, as Dutch tax law requires the retention of certain financial records for seven years. Amphia also needed easy access to their data from the previous year, which the finance and procurement departments relied on frequently.
To add complexity, Amphia worked with an external supplier that delivered custom content to multiple hospitals in the Netherlands, but their proprietary configuration couldn’t be transferred, making the migration even more challenging.
Amphia Hospital decided to sunset their SAP system, but still needed access to their legacy data for legal reasons.
Archive Central optimises access to legacy data
When Amphia contacted EPI-USE Labs’ Partner Connect Solutions in search of a solution, EPI-USE Labs’ Archive Central was the clear choice.
EPI-USE Labs extracted all the legacy data, including all the information Amphia needed to carry out their usual operational activities.
Thanks to Archive Central and its user-friendly interface, multiple users from different departments can access the data simultaneously, with role-based permissions for consultation, comparison and reporting purposes.
One of the big advantages of the EPI-USE Labs solution is that the conversion went really smoothly. Also, the interface is very flexible and user-friendly; it is familiar to users, as it has the same ‘look and feel’ as SAP.
Reduced costs, compliance, and streamlined ERP migration
With the EPI-USE Labs’ solution in place, Amphia remains fully compliant, even after retiring its old system.
The EPI-USE Labs’ technical team took care of the complex and time-consuming task of archiving the data, making the ERP transition significantly easier, and allowing Amphia to focus entirely on the move.
Archive Central is a cost-effective solution, so this means that the hospital also has more funds available, which aligns with its duty as a public institution to reduce expenses and prioritise patient care.
