Last month, EPI-USE Labs hosted a Cloud Roundtable Breakfast event with AWS (Amazon Web Services) at the scenic Irene Country Club in Pretoria, South Africa. The intimate setting allowed for active participation, fuelling rich discussions and invaluable insights which made the event a great success!

We have a long history of working with clients on their data management, specifically supporting migrations to the cloud.

The breakfast was an opportunity to connect with clients and discuss the W.H.A.L.E (Windows Holistic Assessment and Licensing Evaluation) and MAP (Migration Acceleration Program) migration assessments, as well as sharing more about the assessment process through exploring a recent client success story.

“When partnering with EPI-USE Labs and AWS in this assessment process, you’ll get a comprehensive understanding of your company's IT landscape, neatly documented. This will give you insights into your future journey, and access to an Advanced AWS partner with a group of cloud experts who can complement and guide your future thinking,” says Dr Madelise Grobler, Client Executive, EPI-USE Labs.

EPI-USE Labs’ colleagues explained the assessment journey to clients at the event, from expected timelines to the assessment deliverables. This includes the assessment tooling installation and data collection activities, reviewing the right-sizing analysis, and compiling a final readout for the client.

With our unique migration approach – unlike the conventional 'lift and shift' approaches – EPI-USE Labs stands out as a preferred cloud infrastructure partner for SAP workloads. Our SAP-certified products go beyond re-hosting, offering landscape and cost optimisation to give our clients maximum value. With a certified services team skilled in data extraction and rapid migration, we make use of our Data Sync Manager (DSM) software suite, which offers options like enterprise and time slicing. This ensures a tailored migration that selects only relevant organisational components and specific data intervals.

At the event, conversations continued throughout the morning, providing an engaging and collaborative space for questions and answers about licensing options, and enhancements and opportunities within current landscapes, as well as crafting bespoke, comprehensive migration plans.

Beyond discussions about the journey to the cloud, clients also learned more about the state-of-the-art AWS Skills Centre in Cape Town, a free training centre designed for those curious about cloud computing and future job possibilities in the cloud. A valuable resource for anyone looking to enhance their expertise in the world of cloud technology, the AWS Skills Centre provides access to engaging cloud skills training, interactive exhibits, and networking opportunities with local employers. The Roundtable also highlighted the Elephants, Rhinos & People (ERP) community projects, with Lesiba Masibe, ERP Coordinator, sharing more information about addressing poverty in rural communities adjacent to threatened rhino and elephant populations, and implementing tactical interventions such as sustainable alternatives, elephant relocations, and drought relief programmes.
