Back in 2019, I published a blog titled Payroll Reporting in SAP SuccessFactors, which talked about what was then new in SAP® SuccessFactors People Analytics. It included the roadmap for what was, and was not, specifically planned in the future, as shown below:
The roadmap is what SAP SuccessFactors shares with customers to inform them of the current development strategy, with the understanding and disclaimer that it can be changed at any time. If you are looking for the latest roadmaps for SuccessFactors solutions, you can start in the SAP SuccessFactors Community or jump to the Roadmap Explorer (appropriate credentials required).
The three areas with functionality gaps in People Analytics that customers were most passionate about were:
In exciting news, in April 2021, SAP announced that learning data was added to People Analytics Report Stories edition. See my blog here.
Unfortunately, as anyone using SAP or SuccessFactors Employee Central Payroll knows, real-time reporting of live payroll data from the clusters is not easy. Historically in the on-premise world, customers had to make use of the Wage Type Reporter or custom development programming (ABAP) and the full life cycle transport process to create and maintain reports, a complex and costly process.
In 2020, SAP added limited Employee Central Payroll data (extended) to People Analytics Report Stories, a step in the right direction. However, my opinion is this limited data, via replicated results, is reminiscent of the old Payroll Results Infotypes (appropriate SAP credentials required) that had very limited success and a large amount of room for error involving retros, voids and reversals.
Having the ability to analyze, review and interact with your live Payroll data is a requirement for organizations and today the only SAP S/4HANA certified solution that makes this possible is Query Manager™. The EPI-USE Labs Query Manager solution is also whitelisted to work on SuccessFactors Employee Central Payroll.
The Query Manager solution provides live Payroll and Time data for On-Premise SAP Payroll data and SuccessFactors Employee Central Payroll.
Your Query Manager data is available beyond traditional reporting, and it can be available dynamically in Microsoft Excel (via a simple refresh button that pulls a live data set into Excel) for those users who prefer to stay out of the SAPGUI. Query Manager also has a web-based browser frontend for a more visual experience of interacting with your data via SAP Fiori.
You can also share this Payroll data, and any of the live data available in Query Manager, with your analytics solution of choice including Microsoft PowerBI, Tableau, Qlik, SAP Datasphere or SAP Analytics Cloud via our connector.
The three areas that customers were most concerned about for reporting included Learning data, Payroll data, and data from SAP and SuccessFactors at the same time. Of course, the Query Manager solution does this as well.
Your complete reporting solution
Query Manager is the ultimate solution for your Payroll reporting challenges, but it is also so much more. Query Manager and its add-ons including Document Builder, the Query Manager Analytics Connector and the integration with SuccessFactors can be used to ensure your digital transformation.
