It’s an exciting time for SAP customers to leverage innovation, and innovation as we know is in the SAP cloud as described in SAP’s Newest Innovations Will Be Cloud Only. SAP and SAP SuccessFactors have created several programs and commercial offerings to make it easier for customers to do so, including RISE with SAP for SAP’s existing install base, GROW with SAP for net new mid-market customers, and HCM Evolution for HCM and Payroll customers.
This year at SAPPHIRE 2024 we heard more about how SAP’s growth strategy is directly tied to these critical cloud initiatives. The Case for Cloud initiative encompasses all the important measures SAP is taking, together with partners like EPI-USE, to differentiate their cloud and on-premises offerings to customers. The pace of innovation that cloud brings to businesses of all sizes and industries continues to accelerate.
Going forward, SAP’s future ERP innovations will focus on cloud – they will be especially directed to their RISE with SAP, GROW with SAP, and cloud customers.
Everything in the SAP world will eventually run on HANA, and SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Payroll (ECP) is no exception. SAP SuccessFactors spoke about this at the SuccessConnect 2023 conference where they highlighted plans to move customers from MaxDB to HANA. They communicated they will first focus on new installations first before moving existing SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Payroll customers, although there is not yet a published timeline.

This offering is part of SAP’s continued commitment to helping customers continue to get ROI from their on-premise SAP investment, while creating a bridge to the cloud and the future.
This is a non-disruptive way to keep your HR, Payroll, Time and/or Benefits via a cost-effective pathway to the cloud, while retaining the functional richness of your existing systems. This option involves migrating to an SAP S/4HANA Private Cloud Edition (S/4 PCE) subscription, moving your environment to SAP’s own data center or in a hyperscaler (Azure, GCP, AWS).
A conversion from on-premise SAP ERP HCM licenses to PCE cloud subscriptions is also required. |
An offering for customers who wish to extend their current investment in SAP ERP HCM. As opposed to the PCE offering, H4S4 allows continued use of the on-premise SAP talent solutions, including learning and recruiting (subject to licensing). H4S4 can be deployed either within the SAP S/4HANA environment or run standalone. |
