What if you could manage your SAP data sync from anywhere?

Picture this: You're sitting in your favourite coffee shop, sipping your morning brew, when suddenly you think, "What if Data Sync Manager (DSM) could do more than just sync data?". As we enter the age of AI, we have a story to tell you about pushing boundaries and discovering new possibilities. It all started with a simple question: "What if you could manage your SAP data sync from anywhere?" The traditional way of handling SAP data synchronization meant being tied to a desktop computer, but in today's world, business happens everywhere – in coffee shops, on trains, and sometimes even while walking through airport terminals.

As we enter the age of AI, we have a story to tell you about pushing boundaries and discovering new possibilities.

It all started with a simple question: "What if you could manage your SAP data sync from anywhere?"
The traditional way of handling SAP data synchronization meant being tied to a desktop computer, but in today's world, business happens everywhere – in coffee shops, on trains, and sometimes even while walking through airport terminals.

That's when our journey began. We imagined an app that could bring the power of EPI-USE Labs’ Data Sync Manager™ (DSM) Suite right to your pocket, making it as easy to sync SAP data as it is to send a text message.

The first challenge was security. Like a careful guardian protecting a treasure, we needed to make sure only the right people could access the system. We have decided to take SAP’s built-in logging in system up a level by building a secure entrance hall that could recognize you in multiple ways:

  • Your traditional username and password
  • Your fingerprint or face (biometric authentication)
  • Even your previous visits (remember me feature)

Inside the app, we introduced three powerful allies: Object Sync™ and Client Sync™ (part of the DSM Suite), and Archive Extractor (for sending data to Archive Central).

Think of Object Sync as a precise archer, capable of targeting specific pieces of data with amazing accuracy. Client Sync, on the other hand, is more like a master painter, able to copy entire landscapes of data in one sweep. Archive Central works like a diligent librarian, ensuring all archived data is readily accessible and well-managed.

Each had their own special abilities:

  • Object Sync could carefully pick and choose exactly what to copy
  • Client Sync came with ready-made profiles for different scenarios
  • Archive Central managed and extracted archived data efficiently.

All three tools could work quietly in the background while you did other things.

But the story doesn't end with phones. We thought: "What if you could monitor your syncs with just a glance at your wrist?" That's how the watch companion was born. Like a loyal sidekick, it keeps you updated about your syncs without having to pull out your phone.

On your watch, you can:

  • see sync status at a glance
  • start or stop syncs with a tap
  • get instant notifications when syncs complete.

Behind the scenes, we needed to make sure our app could speak SAP's language perfectly. We created an interpreter (the API service) that could:

  • understand and translate SAP's special tokens
  • handle different types of requests
  • deal with errors gracefully
  • keep the conversation secure.

Sometimes things go wrong; a network might fail, or a sync might hit a snag. Like a good friend, the app always lets you know what's happening and helps you fix any problems.

Thanks to the power of DSM’s APIs, now we can think about how to train Machine Learning models!
